Why Perimenopause Matters in Massage Therapy & Allied Healthcare
Most practitioners are never trained to recognize how hormonal shifts impact pain perception, soft tissue health, and recovery. That means your patients—especially perimenopausal and menopausal women—aren’t getting the care they truly need. It’s not about diagnosing or stepping outside your scope—it’s about understanding how hormones impact the musculoskeletal system and knowing exactly how to adjust your treatments for better outcomes. If you’re ready to stop guessing, feel more confident in your treatment plans, and become the go-to practitioner for midlife women, this course was made for you.
Here’s what you’ll walk away with:
✅ The perimenopausal body through a hands-on-practitioner lens—what’s really happening at the muscular, fascial, and joint level ✅ How hormone shifts affect pain, inflammation, and tissue resilience—so you can adjust your treatments with confidence ✅ The must-know conditions linked to perimenopause & menopause (like frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia, and plantar fasciitis) ✅ How to create effective, scope-aligned treatment plans—without overstepping boundaries ✅ The communication skills to have meaningful, professional conversations with your perimenopausal & Menopausal patients
This course is for you if...
✔️ You’re a practitioner who keeps seeing midlife patients with recurring pain—but no clear cause ✔️ You want to stand out in your field as a knowledgeable, perimenopause-informed practitioner ✔️ You’re frustrated by the lack of training on treating perimenopausal & menopausal women ✔️ You want an evidence-based framework to confidently apply in your treatments ✔️ You’re done with the trial-and-error approach and want real, practical strategies
What’s Inside the Course?
📌 Module 1: Menopause Literacy Crash Course A physiology and endocrinology review — aka what you didn’t learn in school. We break down the hormonal shifts that change EVERYTHING for your patients and explore why practitioners need this knowledge, even if we’re not “hormone experts.” Includes a basic hormone review, visual cheat sheets, and links to evidence-based research. 📌 Module 2: Symptoms aka What Fresh He[[ is this... Welcome to the 103 symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. The old “just hot flashes” era is over. We explore symptom tracking tools, cognitive and emotional changes, and surprising patterns you’re already seeing in practice — but maybe didn’t know were hormonal. 📌 Module 3: The Neuroendocrine Transition of Perimenopause We dive deep into how the nervous system, brain, and hormones interact during perimenopause. This module pulls from leading neuroscientists and is backed by current research and peer-reviewed studies — making complex ideas relatable and usable in your practice. 📌 Module 4: The Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Perimenopause & Menopause We break down the current research paper published by Dr Vonda Wright, and explain it with great visuals and some humour sprinkled in. One of our superpowers is taking evidence based researching peer reviewed studies, combing through it, and translating it into something that is engaging, funny, and easier to understand. This module helps you connect the dots between what you’re seeing on your table and what’s happening hormonally. 📌 Module 5: Scope, Safety & Self-Management How to support your patients without stepping outside your role. We cover scope of practice, the HER-BC study, why time rich validating care works so well, and provide reflective prompts to help you work confidently and compassionately with this population. 📌 Module 6: Practical Strategies for Conditions of Perimenopause and Menopause This is your big integration module. We go condition by condition — from local issues like frozen shoulder and gluteal tendinopathy to systemic challenges like fibromyalgia, joint hypermobility, and inflammation. You'll walk away with evidence-informed treatment strategies that fit your scope and your patient’s lived experience. 📌 Module 7: How It Started vs. How It’s Going Your professional evolution — tracked. This final module invites you to reflect, co-create a community resource bank, and look ahead.

Professional Recognition & Continuing Education
This course is designed to meet high standards for professional continuing education and is reviewed for recognition by massage therapy associations on a province-by-province basis. Currently Recognized By • CMMOTA (Canadian Massage & Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association) Recognition in Progress We are actively submitting this course for recognition with additional Alberta massage therapy associations. Because each association has its own review process and timelines, we do not recommend enrolling in this course under the assumption that recognition will be granted by any specific organization. As new recognitions are confirmed, we will update this page and notify enrolled students directly. Looking Ahead When this course opens beyond Alberta, we will clearly list all recognized associations across Canada, the United States, and Australia so practitioners can make informed enrollment decisions. Our recognition submissions include a full curriculum outline, learning objectives, evidence-based references, instructor credentials, and assessment methods. Each association independently evaluates continuing education, and approval timelines vary. Enrollment does not guarantee recognition by any association beyond those listed above.
You’re not just learning new information. You’re remembering what you already know—and getting the tools to use it with more impact.
This course supports your CEU requirements now — and includes bonuses you can use toward future PDP submissions. It’s also a valuable resource if you're personally navigating this transition.
